A FAMILY had the time of their lives when they were selected as “Inspector Cruisos”.
The Fung family, of Firwood Park, were one of 12 who were given the lucky break after being chosen by P&O Cruises from thousands of holidaymakers.
Jacqueline (37), and her family were picked for the seven-night cruise worth £3,000 after entering a competition in a Sunday newspaper’s travel supplement.
To enter, she had to write in 10 or less words why the family hadn’t been on a cruise before.
Her write-up was picked as a winner and the family were then treated to a cruise calling at Vigo (Spain); St Peter Port (Guernsey); Lisbon (Portugal) and Brest (France).
Jacqueline, a payroll manager for Focfa Services in Rochdale, went on the Oceana liner with husband Andrew (36), an architectural technician in Manchester, and their two daughters Vanessa (10) and Ashleigh (five).
During their time on board they were asked to document their impressions and opinions. The family, who described the whole experience as “effortless”, said: “We were a little apprehensive beforehand and weren’t convinced that cruising was for us especially with children.
“But once we saw all the other families we felt more at ease and were surprised that the ship never seemed crowded.
“The ship was very friendly and we felt we could take it as easy as we liked.”
