DAISY Nook Country Park has been voted one of the country’s top dog walks.
Thousands of online voters picked out the beauty spot between Oldham and Tameside as one of the top 21 venues out of 52 shortlisted at www.21topdog walks.co.uk.
Organised by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and tourism agency Enjoy England, the poll was designed to help reduce rising rates of canine obesity.
Neil Hodson (43), out walking Patch, said Daisy Nook deserved its award- winning status.
He said: “It’s a safe area in the countryside with no cars and Patch loves chasing the ducks.
“We come three or four times a week and its better than a park because there are no children and the environment is much more natural— you can tell she is happier here.”
William Barnett (47) visits the park every morning to walk springer spaniel Milly.
He said: “She’s a lively dog and never stops so Daisy Nook is perfect for me.
“I have always come here. They look after the place, it’s clean underfoot and there’s a cafe so it’s good for humans as well as dogs.”
Andrew Symons (39) regularly takes his two dogs Perry and Bess to Daisy Nook.
He said: “The locality is great and I can just let them off their leads to roam.
“Perry loves going into the river during the summer months, it’s got everything for them.
“The only suggestion I’d make is there should be more dog poo bins.”
