Schoolboy severs finger
Date published: 15 January 2009
A 15-year-old Counthill School pupil severed part of a finger after he vaulted a security barrier behind the school and was caught on fencing.
Horrified teachers at the 929-strong Moorside comprehensive immediately called an ambulance. A member of staff accompanied the boy to hospital as shocked classmates looked on after the incident on Monday.
Paramedics on the scene managed to retrieve the boy’s finger, which had been severed from the second knuckle, but surgeons were unable to reattach it.
