Joyce packs up mop and bucket

A MEMBER of the Chronicle cleaning staff who became an unwitting radio star is looking forward to a well-earned retirement.
Joyce Hall (59) has been keeping the Chronicle offices spic and span for 28 years. But many more Oldhamers will remember her as the sparring partner for Kev McLean during the lyric live on his afternoon Revolution radio show.
Joyce’s bubbly personality caught the eye of Revolution bosses when she started cleaning for them alongside working at the Chronicle.
She made regular appearances on McLean’s show with colleague Barbara Oakes between 2000 and 2002.
One of Joyce’s more memorable Revolution slots was when she appealed to Oldhamers to help her track down her pet cockatiel Kizzy, who had gone missing from her home in Oldham Edge. Eventually her fly-away pet was tracked down to Austerlands and Joyce was happily reunited with her feathered friend.
She said: “I have really enjoyed working with my colleagues at Revolution and the Chronicle over the years.”
