FRIENDSHIP . . .Maxwell Shanti, Janet Saggerson, Toni Groves, Katie Robinson, Charlie Smith and Jake Stonall
PUPILS from St Agnes School extended the hand of friendship when they welcomed a special guest from Pakistan.
Brother Maxwell Shanti, the principal of St Anthony’s High School in Lahore, spent a week observing classes, speaking with staff and students and collecting information as part of an on-going friendship between the two schools. The link, which began in 2007, has already led to weekly e-mail contact between the schools and pupils will soon be working on a joint project about life at their respective schools.
Head teacher at St Agnes CofE School, Lees, Janet Saggerson, decided on St Anthony’s after visiting the school in 2007. She said: “The aims of the visit were to have a greater understanding of how Christians and Muslims work together, to look at teaching styles, to investigate teaching and learning in schools in Pakistan, to create new friendships and to have a sustainable relationship with a school in Lahore.”
