CAB seeks recruits as demand soars
Date published: 22 January 2009
OLDHAM Citizens Advice Bureau is recruiting volunteers to cope with the rising demand for help and advice from those hit by redundancy, home repossession and debt.
The recruitment drive has been launched in response to the credit crunch and concerns from people struggling to meet day-to-day living costs, especially mortgage repayments and household bills.
Figures show that inquiries to the CAB increased by 27 per cent in the period April to December, 2007-2008, compared with the previous year.
CAB training manager Maria Cuschera said: “We are looking to recruit 12 volunteers with immediate effect to ensure that we are able to offer increasing levels of advice and information.”
The Citizens Advice Bureau provides free, confidential, independent and impartial advice whatever the problem. For more information on volunteering CAB on 0161-620 9317.
