Hilda, 104, was one of Oldham’s oldest

ONE of Oldham’s oldest women has died aged 104.

Hilda Hurst, who died in the Royal Oldham Hospital on Monday, was born in Oldham and lived in Mumps. She went to work as a weaver in a mill at the age of 12 and her family later moved to Chadderton.

Hilda who survived her husband Tom and son Fred, has a daughter, Marion, son-in-law Richard and a clutch of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will take place at 10am at St Matthew’s Church, Mill Brow, on January 30, before an interment.

Any well wishers who would like to make a donation are asked to send it to the Ena Hughes Day Centre in memory of Hilda.
