Derby game fans on best behaviour

OLDHAM Athletic’s promotion-chasing derby against Stockport County passed off peacefully.
More than 7,000 fans turned up to support their teams at Boundary Park on Saturday — which Latics won 3-1.
More than 2,000 seats were earmarked for County fans in a bid to prevent a repeat of crowd trouble when the teams last met in October.
Violence flared at Edgeley Park after Latics fans managed to get tickets for the Cheadle End, home to County’s hardcore support after their official allocation had been sold out.
Chief executive, Alan Hardy said of Saturday’s match: “I have not had reports of any problems. There were three ejections but nothing serious.
“We had 2,193 County fans and the remainder were Latics supporters. We had a good victory and it was a good game to watch.
“I was exceptionally pleased with the stewarding and the police operation.”
A Latics fan said: “There was no trouble. In fact there was some good-natured banter.”
A spokesman from GMP added: “We are pleased to say that there were no arrests.”
