Haven’t they grown!

Triplets take a trip down memory lane to celebrate their 13th birthday
THEY say three’s a crowd and that was certainly the case when triplets Katie, Jason and Jessica Booth visited the special care baby unit where they were born 13 years ago.
The trio were delivered six weeks early by Caesarian section on January 24, 1996, when doctors grew concerned about their development.
Katie arrived first weighing in at 3lb 8oz followed by Jason who weighed 4lb 2oz. Jessica came last and tipped the scales at 4lb 7oz.
They spent almost three weeks in incubators at the Royal Oldham Hospital’s special care baby unit being fed by drips.
Proud parents Wendy and William Booth — who have since separated — had almost given up hope of having children and were delighted when their second attempt at IVF was successful.
Wendy, of Lavender Road, Holts, said: “I was over the moon when I found out I was having triplets and, because I knew from the start, it meant I could plan for three babies so we just bought three of everything.
“When the triplets were first born it was very physically demanding trying to move three babies around and feed, bathe and change them but we managed somehow. Now it is more mentally demanding as they are growing up and their hormones are taking over.”
Wendy resisted the temptation to dress the triplets in matching clothes and has always been keen for them to develop individual personalities.
She said: “They are not identical triplets and they have grown up with very different characteristics but they are very close. I have two younger children, Megan (10) and Alfie (seven) and they see their older sisters and brother as individuals.
“All three go to Hathershaw College of Technology and Sport and they get on really well but they are each their own person.”
Wendy said: “The staff at the unit were absolutely fantastic so I thought it would be nice for the triplets to go back on their 13th birthday and see where they started out.
“Katie, who was the smallest when they were born, is now the biggest so I thought it would be fun for them to go back and see just how much they have changed and grown.”
