MORE than 100 proud pupils, parents and teachers gathered to crown a year of achievement as Hulme Grammar School for Boys held its speech night.
The event is the highlight of the academic calendar, and this year a special guest of honour was on hand to help the students celebrate. Old boy David Nott (52) is now a consultant surgeon practising vascular and general surgery in London. His work with the international charity Medecins San Frontieres (MSF) has seen him practice in troublespots around the world — last year he hit the headlines when he saved the life of a boy in the Congo by following text message instructions from a colleague thousands of miles away.
The awards were also attended by the Mayor, Councillor Shoab Akhtar and Mayoress Shafeena Kausar.
