Youngsters growing plants in aid of a cancer charity have been hit by thieves.

Yobs stole seedlings from Premier Pre- School, Clarksfied, along with plants and pots bought to brighten up the grounds.

A sign has now been put up pleading for those responsible to have conscience.

“It says: “Please don’t take our plants. We like the outside to look nice for our children. Our children aged two, three and four, have planted these flowers to raise money for cancer.”

The pre-school opened at St Barnabas Church, Arundel Street, in September and sold gift bags to raise money for the pots and plants. In addition, pupils also growing plants which they will sell to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Manager Lesley Hurst said: “I just think it is awful. The children are upset that somebody could do this. We have just had an Ofsted inspection where we got good in every area. We wanted to make our outside look nice and welcoming.”
