Remembering victims of the Holocaust
Date published: 28 January 2009
OLDHAMERS from all communities gathered at the Gallery Oldham to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
The event, which also remembers victims of genocides committed since the end of the Second World War, saw faith leaders and civic leaders unite to listen to a series of speeches and reflect on the horrors unleashed under Hitler’s regime. The Saddleworth peace movement also marked the day with a candlelit vigil in the Square at Uppermill.
During the event, money was raised for the Human Appeal International and its work in Gaza.
