BEST mates . . . Andrew and Joseph don’t let anything stop them enjoying themselves
Father and son focus on living life to the full
A DOTING dad with a lust for life is in the running for a national competition which encourages individuals to celebrate the things they enjoy most.
And when Alan Green found out The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) was appealing for photos, he decided nothing could demonstrate the theme better than a snap of his four-year-old son Joseph playing with his toys.
Alan, of Fresca Road, Moorside, said: “Joseph has cerebral palsy and for all the problems he has and the challenges he faces, you couldn’t meet a happier boy.
“He’s never miserable despite the problems he has and he’s very fun-loving and sociable.
“I think he demonstrates the theme of making the most of life and enjoying yourself really well.”
The competition aims to highlight how people can have fun and stay safe at the same time by observing health and safety rules. Entrants are asked to take a picture which reflects the statement: “This is my life, health and safety helps me live it”.
And Joseph is clearly a chip off the old block when it comes to staying safe while living life to the full.
Alan has already completed a tandem skydive for charity and ran the London Marathon.
And he will soon be raising cash for the Manchester Children’s Hospital by taking part in a 2,800-mile coastal circuit of mainland Britain on his motorbike.
Alan added: “I love fund-raising for charities, it gives me a real buzz.
“What spare time I do have, I love to spend on photography. I get a great deal of joy from taking photos, mostly of Joseph. Joseph is a huge part of my life so when the opportunity came to enter a photography competition that involved talking about my life, I couldn’t think of a better person to feature in my entry.”
