Police appeal for Good Samaritan

Date published: 29 January 2009

Police are seeking a Good Samaritan who helped a robbery victim with significant head injuries.

The victim was found on Eldon Street, Oldham, by a passer-by who called an ambulance. The man gave his name as Alistair to ambulance staff but left no further details. Officers have so far been unable to trace him.

The robbery is believed to have happened between midnight and 2.40am on Sunday, in Ashton Road. Police were called the following day when the victim realised some of his belongings were missing.

Detective Constable Mark Tiffany, of Oldham CID, said: “The victim has little recollection of what happened. We are hoping the man called Alistair, who helped the injured man, may be able help us now.”

Anyone with information about the robbery — or thinks they might know Alistair — should contact police on 0161-856 8951 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
