A new chapter in library’s history
Date published: 02 February 2009
Work on expanding Lees Library will transform the Thomas Street building into a community hub.
Once complete, it will have new IT facilities for more courses and after-school homework sessions. Money from the Big Lottery fund has made the work possible.
The £536,000 grant will extend the building at the front and rear, with improved customer facilities including wheelchair-accessible toilets.
Work is expected to finish around April, but the lending library remains open in a temporary building on the car park.
