NIMBLE-FOOTED dancers from a Royton dance club scooped 17 titles in the North-West Medalist of the Year championships in ballroom and Latin dancing.
And their prowess on the dance floor means they will now represent the region in the national finals in spring.
The dancers, from Trujons, have their sights firmly set on wowing the judges at the finals at Blackpool Winter Gardens in April.
And Trudy Mainwaring from Trujons, which is based in Market Square, said they worked “tremendously hard” to get to this point.
“They practised three or four times a week to build up stamina as a means of producing a slick and eye-catching performance,” she said.
The regional championships were held at the Wythenshawe Forum, and Trujons mopped up the following titles:
Under-12s Boys latin, Ben Dixon; ballroom, Lewis Robinson; girls Latin, Alex Zamen; ballroom, Jenna Rodgers.
Tom Winter won the under-16s boys’ ballroom and Latin title, and Thomas Leonard won the rosette ballroom and Latin section for the six to eight-year-olds.
Adult winners were: Hannah Cunningham (under-25 women’s ballroom), Lisa Kenyon (over-25 ballroom and Latin), Mark Simpson (over-25 male ballroom and Latin), Colette Moss (over-35 women’s ballroom), Colin Hassall (over-35 male ballroom), Mike Madeley (over-50 male ballroom and Latin), Valerie Mitchell (adult special needs).
