Leading bandsmen and local luminaries will be among mourners attending the funeral of one of Delph’s most popular characters tomorrow.
Jimmy Wrigley (62), collapsed and died after a desperate battle to save his life by Captain Chris Ruddy, boss of Diggle-based Pennine Helicopters, for whom he worked for 12 years.
Captain Ruddy, paramedics and air ambulance staff tried to resuscitate Mr Wrigley, who collapsed on a mission to isolated moorland in the Peak District, but he died at the scene.
Kings of Brass will play at the funeral service which begins at 1pm at Delph Methodist Church, Gartside Street, followed by cremation at Oldham.
Mr Wrigley had lifelong links with brass band music and concerts.
