Terror leaflet guilt

AN Oldham mother charged with terrorism offences has admitted producing a leaflet encouraging people to go abroad to fight a holy war.

Shella Roma (28), was arrested after she took a leaflet entitled “The Call” to a photocopy shop in Ashton and ordered 200 copies.

The shop assistant called police after he noticed the leaflet contained mention of 9/11 and the war on terror and posed the question “Will you go to the Holy War?”.

Roma of Chester Street, Werneth, had been jointly charged with her husband Amjad Mahmood (29) but accepted that she had been the prime mover.

Judge Clement Goldstone ordered the charges against Mahmood to lie on file. Roma yesterday pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court to dissemination of a terrorism publication encouraging terrorism.

Roma, who was released on bail, will be sentenced on March 20 and could face a maximum of seven years in jail.
