Cannabis plants seized at a house in St Mary’s
A CANNABIS farm containing plants up to 6ft tall has been found at a house in St Mary’s.
The discovery — the 26th cannabis farm uncovered by police in Oldham in the past 12 months — was made in Terrace Street at 8.15am on Monday.
Two bedrooms upstairs were being used to grow cannabis. One room had three plants inside, two of them around 6ft tall.
The second room had around 26 smaller plants as well as cultivation equipment.
More equipment used to grow cannabis was also found in the loft space of the house and the electricity supply had been illegally tampered with.
No one was at the address and police are appealing for information from the public.
PC Natalie Eastwood, from Oldham police station, said: “Judging by the amount of cultivation equipment, it appears whoever was using this house was planning to grow a lot more plants in the future.
“Help from the public is always vital and I am appealing to the local community to come forward with any information they may have so we can find the people responsible as well as close down their operation.”
Anyone with any information is asked to ring the police on 0161-872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
