Hands on . . . Councillor Stanton gets to grips with demolition work on Ramsey Street
Empty terrace houses in London Road and Ramsay Street, Derker, will be knocked down this week as part of the Housing Market Renewal programme.
Oldham Council is working with Reddish Demolition to clear the site, which overlooks Afghan Park. Developer Bellway will build new properties.
Ward councillor and deputy council leader Jackie Stanton said: “Local residents have waited a long time to see progress. It is very encouraging to see us taking this step.”
Alongside the clearance work, contractors will refurbish a number of homes in Derker over the next few weeks.
