Concert in memory of popular Cyril

POPULAR . . . Saddleworth organist Cyril Walker
A CONCERT is being held at Holy Trinity Church, Dobcross, to celebrate the life of renowned Saddleworth organist Cyril Walker who died in 2007, aged 75.
Sunday’s event (2.30pm) has been organised by the Friends of Holy Trinity Church, Dobcross, where Mr Walker was organist and choirmaster for many years.
It features Simon Lindley, organist at Leeds Parish Church and Town Hall; and the University of Warwick’s Symphonic Brass.
Mr Walker was instrumental in ensuring the restoration of the Wadsworth Organ but died while it was being overhauled and never had the chance to play it again.
