Fish-watching — to soothe stress
Date published: 13 February 2009

THANKS for the tank . . . Denise Beasley (dental nurse), sister Joanne Davies, Chris Mylott (patient welfare/voluntary services manager), Joan Tomlinson (League of Friends chairman), Andy Lister (Fishworld manager), and League of Friends members Christine Parmley, Pam Brocklehurst and Alison Wild with the tank in the oral surgery department
PATIENTS at the Royal Oldham Hospital can calm their nerves thanks to the arrival of two donated fish tanks.
Fishworld, in Middleton Road, Chadderton, donated a £575 fish tank to the hospital while the Royal Oldham Hospital League of Friends provided the fish and accessories.
The colourful tank will be housed in the oral surgery department.
In addition, League members also donated £300 for a new low level fish tank for the children’s outpatient department. The League of Friends are a group of volunteer fund raisers to help make people’s visits to hospital more comfortable.
Chris Mylott, voluntary services manager, said: “The fish tanks are very calming and the children love looking into theirs.
“Fishworld manager Andy Lister, has also agreed to come up once a week to keep an eye on them.”
Anyone interested in becoming a League member should call Chris on 0161-627 8561.
