Pub’s knife raid terror
Date published: 13 February 2009
TERRIFIED restaurant staff were threatened with chef’s knives when masked robbers burst in and stole cash.
Four raiders stormed into the Clayton Green pub/restaurant in Chadderton Way, two brandishing knives and demanding cash.
They took money from three tills and ripped out a locked cash tray from another before fleeing.
The robbers made their getaway in a new-shaped black Honda Civic with a registration number starting RO56.
The Civic drove towards Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park ground.
All four thugs are white and all wore balaclavas and dark clothing in the raid on Sunday at 9pm.
DC Mike Hayman, of Oldham CID, said: “Fortunately, nobody was injured in this robbery, but it left staff understandably shaken.
“I’m appealing to anybody who may know who is responsible for this attack or, in particular, if they saw the robbers approach the restaurant or when they left in that car.”
