Drivers face more misery

Motorists fuming at a set of traffic delays caused by a gas leak could be facing a second hold-up.
Temporary traffic lights at Higginshaw, near The Windsor pub, have been halting traffic for more than two weeks.
The National Grid said the work was completed on Friday, but a second, unrelated leak has now been found further down the road.
Workmen will now have to dig up the road there, meaning there could be another set of temporary lights — and more delays.
A National Grid spokesman said: “We have had to liaise with the council. They asked us, because it is causing problems, to hold off for a week to give respite for motorists, until the first escape is sorted out.
“The Tarmac has been reinstated, but we don’t know whether we will need temporary traffic lights at the second repair yet.”
Store manager Kelvin Bilson, from Step Outlet shoes at the Higginshaw Road retail park, said: “The traffic has been horrendous at peak times.
“Journeys which should take 15 minutes have been taking 45 minutes to an hour. We are in the third week of this now.”
