Greenfield’s controversial new pub-restaurant opened to the public today after a weekend of VIP guest visits..
The Kingfisher, which cost more than £2 million, has been opened by Marstons Inn and Taverns on the new marina basin development.
Aimed at the family market, the pub’s controversy surrounded the use of illuminated signs that have been opposed by local councillors on planning and road hazard issues.
Among the guests who attended were The Mayor of Oldham Shaob Akhtar and his wife, the Mayoress, Mrs Shafeena Kausar, Phil Woolas, MP for Oldham East, and Councillor Pat Lord, chair of Saddleworth Parish Council.
