OLDHAM’S talented teens came together to showcase their talents in an entertainment spectacular at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

The Mayor, Councillor Shoab Akhtar, and the Oldham Council Chief Executive Charlie Parker join a packed house to watch an entertaining spectacle featuring dance, singing and sports events in the fourth annual Young People Excel event.

More than 250 young people from the borough’s schools, youth centres, colleges and dance groups all performed on a night dedicated to recognising the wealth of talent among Oldham’s young people.

Angela Longsden, assistant head of youth services, said: “The Young People Excel event allows us as adults the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the excellent work that young people do in the community. Today’s children and young people are you future employers, residents and community leaders, so it’s fantastic that we can start to reward their hard work now.

“It also provides children with an opportunity to display their parents and leading decision makers within the borough the potential of your young people, which we need to nurture and support.”
