OLDHAM Athletic have begun their big countdown to their “Come on you Pinks” fund-raising live televised clash with Leeds United.
The two clubs meet at Boundary Park under the spotlight of the Sky TV cameras on Monday, March 2, and Athletic are hoping that the nationwide coverage will give their special appeal for the new Victoria breast cancer unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital a real boost
Latics have been given permission to play in an all-pink kit — the first League club to change their home strip for a league game to support a charitable cause.
And now the club are looking to all their supporters to wear pink on the night to make it a pink spectacular for the television cameras.
Said Latics chief executive, Mr Alan Hardy: “We have had a fantastic response all around the world to the pink kit publicity.
“I’m sure our home supporters will back us all the way in this campaign and now we want fans to turn the two sides of the ground with home fans in them into a sea of pink.
Watch out for news on how wearing pink at the game can win you free Latics tickets — only in your Oldham Evening Chronicle.
