FORMER Oldham College student Suzanne Shaw is in training to wow audiences across the country with her ice dancing skills.

The Hear Say star won last year’s “Dancing on Ice” show and will join fellow contestants Kyran Bracken, Todd Carty and Melinda Messenger to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Torvill and Dean’s gold medal at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics.

Suzanne, who did a performing arts diploma at college and studied at Oldham Theatre Workshop, recently completed a stint as Roxie Hart in “Chicago” in London’s West End.

The celebrities will be trained and choreographed by Torvill and Dean who will also perform several of their favourite routines at each performance.

Olympic gold medal winner Robin Cousins will lead the rink-side judging panel which will also feature a celebrity guest judge at each date.

The tour will visit arenas in Sheffield, Nottingham, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Belfast. At each performance the audience will have a chance to vote for their favourite skating celebrity with all money raised going to charity.

The audience votes will then be added to the scores from the judges to decide who gets to perform the finale routine.

The “Dancing on Ice” tour will be at the Manchester Arena from April 16-19. For tickets and transport from the Oldham Chronicle, ring Millenium Concert Travel on 0870 609 1072.
