Missing parrot may be over Elk Mill

Melvyn Jones with a parrot similar to the one that’s missing
PARROT enthusiast Melvyn Jones is standing by his telephone in the hope of a call to help him track down his missing bird.
The 14-inch tall vivid green parrot dodged over the 65-year-old’s shoulder and flew out through the open door of his Royton home on Monday.
Mr Jones watched in dismay as Tiger flew off and disappeared from view.
He had been trying to move the bird into another cage when it made a bid for freedom.
Mr Jones saw a green flash of the parrot over Elk Mill Centre Retail Park, but said he will be lucky to catch it and fears it may die.
Tiger is on daily medication prescribed by a vet for a chest condition.
“I was absolutely gutted when he flew away. It was just one of those things. My sons had left the door open and it got past me and flew off,” he said.
Mr Jones bred birds for 25 years, before recently scaling down to just a couple of birds.
Tiger, who speaks an odd word, also has a distinctive part-yellow head.
Anyone who spots the missing parrot can contact Mr Jones, who is offering a reward of an undisclosed amount, on 07944-811 462.
