POTENTIALLY lethal blades have been stolen from a food processing plant in Oldham.

Six of the specialist meat cutting blades and a power drill were stolen from Home Made Products in Mortar Street some time between 3pm on Saturday and 8am on Monday.

It is thought the thieves broke into the building through a derelict yard.

Officers are now urging anyone who is offered one of these blades to contact police immediately.

Det Sgt Liz Hopkinson, of Oldham CID, said: “These are large, sickle-shaped blades that are used for mashing meat down into paste.

“They are extremely sharp and clearly lethal in the wrong hands. I want anyone who has been offered one of these blades, or who knows of their whereabouts, to contact police.

“These blades need to be taken out of circulation as quickly as possible — before they are used to do some serious damage.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Oldham CID on 0161-856 8940 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
