A MINISTER who preached across the country for more than 50 years has died at the age of 83.
The Rev Ronald Berry, of Sands Avenue, Chadderton, preached at churches throughout the Shaw and Royton Methodist Circuit but was particularly well-known for his pastoral work at Healds Green Methodist Church, Chadderton.
The grandfather was ordained at the Methodist Conference in Wolverhampton on July 16, 1953, and married his late wife, Edith, two days later.
A celebratory service was held at Trinity Methodist Church, Royton six years ago to mark the 50th anniversary of his ordination.
He travelled far and wide during his career, which took him from Tyneside to the Black Country and from Oxfordshire to Humberside.
He died in hospital on Friday and a Thanksgiving Service will be held at Trinity Methodist Church, Royton on Monday at 1pm.
