LIBRARIES across Oldham will be holding events and activities as part of World Book Day on Thursday. From fun and games to story times, a host of entertainment is promised for youngsters, with this year’s theme of dinosaurs.

World Book Day encourages children to explore the pleasures of reading and is marked in over 100 countries across the world.

The activities are free and there’s no need to book. They include:

Tuesday

::Stoneleigh Library (626 8455) — 10am to 1pm, dinosaur craft activities.

Wednesday

::Fitton Hill Library (633 2011) — 4-5pm, clay dinosaurs.

Thursday

::Chadderton Library (665 2225) — 4.30-5.30pm, making clay dinosaurs; 3-6pm, making clay dinosaur fossils.

::Failsworth Library (681 2405) — 3.30pm onwards, storytime and craft activities.

l Oldham Library and Lifelong Learning Centre (770 8000) — 4pm onwards, dinosaur storytime and games.

::Uppermill Library (01457 872777) — 2-3pm, dinosaur storytime and crafts.

Friday

::Northmoor Library (633 1168) — 4pm onwards, mask making and craft activities.

Many of the libraries will also be heading into local schools and nurseries or hosting class visits around the event.

Wednesday will see Greenfield Library welcome Greenfield Primary School’s Year 1 class at 2pm to listen to stories and take part in an unusual craft session inspired by the bestselling children’s book Dinosaurs Love Underpants.

And Thursday will see staff from Broadway Library visit nearby Sunshine Nursery.
