Mayor makes it a family affair

This proud family picture was taken as the Mayor of Oldham welcomed guests to the annual civic ball on Friday.

Councillor Shoab Akhtar, and the Mayoress, Mrs Shafeena Kausar, were joined by 550 guests, including their three young sons.

The ball, at Oldham Civic Centre, raises funds for the Mayor’s Appeal, which this year is supporting the Oldham Education Trust, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, the Neonatal Intensive Care Cot for the Royal Oldham Hospital, the phlebotomy chair appeal at the diabetes centre at the Royal Oldham, and the Oldham Cancer Support Centre.
