Motorbike rider dies at junction

A MOTORCYCLIST has died following an accident in Saddleworth yesterday afternoon.
Liam Gerald Whitehead (44), from the Huddersfield area, is believed to have lost control of his Yamaha bike and came off at the junction of Huddersfield Road and Ripponden Road in Denshaw at 1.50pm. No other vehicles were involved.
He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital with serious injuries but later died.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to call the Area Three Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 8802.
