THE family of motorcyclist Liam Whitehead who died following a collision in Denshaw have paid tribute to him.
Mr Whitehead came off his Yamaha bike in Huddersfield Road at 1.50pm on Sunday. It is believed he lost control of the bike and no other vehicles were involved.
The 44-year-old, from Huddersfield, was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital where he later died.
In a statement, his family said: “Liam was a devoted father to Poppy.
“Being a father was the best thing to ever happen to Liam.
“He was a keen repairer and rider of motorcycles, riding for nearly 30 years, and a long-time member of the Motorcycle Action Group.
“He had a keen interest in photography. He was very intelligent and could turn his hand to anything.
“Liam will be remembered and missed by his many friends and family.”
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to call the Area Three Road Policing Unit on 0161-856 8802.
