Taxi firm’s phones relief
Date published: 03 March 2009
Telephones are working again at a taxi firm hit by the collapse of a Bury telecoms company.
Crompton and Royton Private Hire’s telephones were restored last night by British Telecom, a week after they went silent.
Global Telecoms of Bury was made the subject of a winding up order by its main supplier, leaving hundreds of companies without phone connections.
They include Borough Taxis, which operates in Oldham, Royton, and Chadderton, and MB Precision Engineering of Royton, which has lost phone, fax and broadband services.
Ray Smith, manager of Crompton and Royton Private Hire, said: “I’m very pleased we’re back on. Many thanks to the Oldham Chronicle for letting our customers know about our problems.”
The numbers working again are the main office, 01706 882288 and fax line 01706 291379, Royton office, 0161 628 8778, and Saddleworth office, 01457 810000.
Borough Taxis expect to be connected again on Thursday.
