ON your march . . . Councillor John McCann joins walkers as they set off
IT WAS best foot forward for a group of fundraisers taking part in a sponsored walk to highlight local issues of poverty and homelessness.
Staff and residents from the homeless charity Threshold took part in an 11-mile trek around Oldham yesterday. Helping their fundraising efforts were staff from Oldham Council’s Housing Strategy team who took part in a 12-hour sponsored fast to highlight the plight of being hungry.
All funds raised will be donated to charities Threshold and Depaul UK. Councillor John McCann, cabinet member for community services and housing, said: “We are very proud to be working so closely with these worthwhile charities.”
