Campaign to stop TV licence dodgers

A campaign aimed at getting people to buy television licences will be running in Oldham over the next few weeks.
TV Licensing will be working with communities across Oldham distributing leaflets in more than 150 languages which explain the ways to pay the licence fee.
It also points out that licence dodgers can be fined up to £1,000.
TV Licensing spokesman Charlotte Hancock said: “It is important that everyone has equal access to information on TV Licensing.
“This is why we are getting in touch with a range of local organisations to help us pass information directly to everyone in Oldham.”
She added: “We understand that there are some people in Oldham who struggle to pay the licence fee.
“There are many ways to pay. More people are choosing to pay by direct debit while others to pay by cheque or by using a debit or credit card over the phone, others online.
“And a cash payment plan can be arranged to help anyone who would prefer to make regular small weekly or fortnightly cash payments towards the cost of the licence fee.”
The leaflets that will be distributed are available in English and Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Serbo-Croat, Slovakian, Somali, Tamil, Turkish, Urdu and Vietnamese.
