Neighbourly breakfast
Date published: 10 March 2009
EVERYBODY needs good neighbours — and an Oldham church is trying to unite theirs over breakfast.
Oldham Baptist Church, off Chaucer Street, has been providing a community breakfast on the first Friday of every month in a bid to bring people together.
The initiative has been taking place over the last six months but church members are now looking to get more people involved so they can start the day with a good chat over a cup of tea and some cereal — or even a bacon butty.
It started off as a contact point with the contractors working in a new building opposite the church so members could welcome their new neighbours.
But it has grown, with the church delivering invites to offices in the Brunswick and Chaucer street area in a bid to connect the community.
The community breakfast takes place between 8.30 and 10am. The next is to be on April 3.
