Store hit again by armed gang
Date published: 11 March 2009
ROBBERS armed with knives and machetes stole cash from a store full of terrified staff — the second incident in two months.
Up to six offenders stormed into B+M Homestores, formerly Glynn Webb, in Huddersfield Road at 5.50pm on Saturday.
The men, wearing masks, gloves, and dressed in dark clothes, threatened staff and forced them to hand over £3,000.
During the robbery the manager of the store suffered a head wound after being hit with a blunt object.
The offenders fled in a silver or grey Volkswagen Golf with a registration number beginning RE07.
The theft follows a similar incident at the same store two months ago where armed robbers stole £10,000 from the tills and office safe.
Det Con Richard Sample said: “The offenders grabbed at least two of them during the incident, but thankfully they were not seriously injured. I’d urge anyone who has seen this car, or who might have any information, to call us.”
