A drugged-up cross-dresser from Oldham chased a woman in her car for 10 miles while he was armed with a hunting knife, a Halloween mask, a wig and a length of rope.
Shocked police officers also found drugs, porn, a spade, plastic sheeting, gloves and several pairs of tights in the boot of Christopher Magilton’s car.
Magilton, (37), described as a prisoner at Perth, but originally from Mason Lane, Oldham, picked a woman at random in a supermarket car park on Christmas Eve morning and followed her in the dead of night while he was wearing tights and a skirt.
The pervert later told police he had tried to catch his victim’s eye as he drove along behind her, but in fact subjected her to a terrifying ordeal lasting around 30 minutes.
Sheriff Robert McCreadie told Perth Sheriff Court yesterday that what he had heard was “deeply alarming” and deferred sentence for a raft of reports.
The court was told that Magilton was acting out a fantasy and became aroused by women’s tights — wearing them when he had sex with his girl friend.
He had left Dundee and drove to Perth, where he sat in the car park of a 24-hour Tesco Extra store, until picking his victim when she left the store at 1.30am.
Fiscal depute John Malpass said Magilton drove through several streets immediately behind the woman and within two miles she was becoming concerned.
He said: “She began to panic and feared that the vehicle was following her,” he said. She eventually headed for the car park of another branch of Tesco and dashed in to seek help from staff who called the police.
Magilton was still in the car park when police arrived.
Mr Malpass added: “There was a strong smell of cannabis in the car. The officers noted he was wearing a skirt and a pair of tights. They found a large Bowie knife under the front passenger seat.”
Magilton stated that he had fallen out with his partner in Dundee and had only gone out to calm down.
Mr Malpass said Magilton’s girl friend denied there had been a row.
Mr Malpass said: “Throughout her relationship he had requested that she wear tights during love-making. She indicated that the accused also liked to wear tights during sex.”
Magiltonadmitted breaching the peace and possessing drugs.
Quizzed about his clothing, Magilton said: “I only wear it once in a blue moon. It’s just unfortunate that I got caught tonight.”
