KEEN fund-raiser Hannah Taylor is urging Oldham cyclists to celebrate St Patrick’s Day tomorrow by putting their name down for a gruelling week-long bike challenge to raise vital funds for a cancer charity.

Setting off from Malin Head — Ireland’s most northerly point, the cyclists will arrive seven days later at Mizen Head — the most southerly point in the Republic of Ireland.

The ride takes in the amazing scenery of the west coast of Ireland with participants cycling 70 miles a day.

Hannah (27), a fund-raiser at Marie Curie’s Oldham branch, said: “This is an ideal cycle challenge if you’re a regular cyclist with a thirst for a new adventure — it’s a fantastic way to see the Emerald Isle.

“Our previous trip filled within weeks and there are only a limited number of places up for grabs on the Malin to Mizen Cycle Challenge.”

The money raised will help Marie Curie Cancer Care to provide one-to-one, specialist nursing care to those terminally ill with cancer in their own homes.

Around 110 cancer patients spend their final days at home in Oldham each year; 436 in hospital or a hospice (the majority of these being in hospital).

The event is open to everyone over-18 and takes place from September 12 to September 19.

Anyone interested in taking part should call Hannah on 0161-255 2809 or 07798-638 127.
