Couple’s raid terror
Date published: 18 March 2009
FOUR armed raiders subjected a couple to a terrifying ordeal when they broke into their pub, woke them up and demanded cash.
The thugs, armed with screwdrivers and a fire extinguisher, broke into the Wishing Well pub on Harbour Lane, Milnrow, at around 3.50am on Monday.
They burst into the bedroom and demanded they hand over cash. Frightened for their safety — and with children inside the living quarters — the couple handed over the money.
The robbers also stole two Nintendo DS consoles belonging to the children before fleeing in a car down Harbour Lane.
The robbers are all described as white men and were wearing dark clothing.
One was about 5ft 7in tall and aged about 20. He had light-coloured shaved hair, was of medium build and wore a grey jacket. All the offenders spoke with strong Manchester accents.
Det Con Nick Price, from Rochdale CID, said: “We have several lines of inquiry to follow.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Rochdale CID on 0161-856 1977 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
