Park cycle plans on show

CYCLISTS are being urged to get on their bikes to find out more about new plans for Chadderton Hall Park.
An event is being held in the park on April 8 to outline proposals for a BMX/mountain bike trail there. It would be funded from a £1.1 million Lottery grant to improve play areas across Oldham.
The event runs from 10.30am to 4pm, with a walk of the proposed trail leaving from the tennis courts at 2pm.
Try-Cycles, a scheme promoting cycling in the borough, will be holding skills and technique sessions throughout the day. All riders must wear helmets, which will be available to borrow.
Richard Vink, Oldham’s principal green space development officer, said the park had already received money for a new play area. However, proposals for a skate park had been shelved after opposition.
He added: “We want to talk to people to see what their views are on the bike trail.”
