Brushing up on Bruegel

Date published: 20 March 2009

ENERGETIC, bold, physically stunning, with rich text, original song and imaginative media.

That is the promise of the Bad Panda theatre company as it aims to present Renaissance painter Peter Bruegel’s famous masterpieces and eventful life in style.

The production explores the 1500s — a time of visionary prophets and revolutionary geniuses who pushed the boundaries of imagination to create wonders the world had never seen.

Bad Panda is a new theatre company set up in association with the University Campus Oldham.

Created by final year performance students at the campus, they performed “Bruegel” at Oldham Coliseum on Wednesday, the start of a six-venue tour.

Next Tuesday the play will be performed at South Chadderton School, and on Friday, March 27, at Oldham College, with tickets £6 and £4 for concessions.
