Knives lethal in the wrong hands

THIEVES stole potentially lethal butchers knives from a meat suppliers in Failsworth.
The shutter doors were forced open at the premises in Failsworth Industrial Estate, Morton Street, between 3.30pm on Thursday and 2am the following day.
Five of the 11 knives stolen have 12 inch blades and could cause serious harm if they are used by someone inexperienced.
The theft is similar to an incident last month when six specialist meat cutting blades and a power drill were stolen from Home Made Products in Mortar Street, Greenacres.
Det Cons Ian Lloyd, from Oldham CID, said: “These knives are expensive tools and this local business is greatly inconvenienced by them being taken.
“There is also the concern that in the wrong hands they are dangerous weapons.
“It is an unusual collection of items to be stolen and quite distinctive in that the industrial purpose is obvious.
“I would urge anyone who knows anything about those responsible or where the knives are to contact me.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Oldham CID on 0161 856 8951 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
