Look Who’s on his way to town

OLDHAM Library and Lifelong Learning Centre is gearing up for a galaxy invasion when it hosts a special “Doctor Who Day”.

Characters from the TV series, including Oods, Cybermen, K9 and the Hath, will be joining forces for a fun afternoon.

Look out, too, for Donna and Rose as they mix with the dastardly Davros and the Daleks around the TARDIS control room.

Youngsters can create their own Cybermen masks and make a miniature TARDIS with the help of Oldham Play Action Group. And there will be prizes for the best “Doctor Who” fancy dress, plus badge-making and face-painting for the little ones.

“Doctor Who Day” is part of the national Boys into Books initiative.

The scheme aims to encourage boys to read more and explore a wide range of activities on offer at their local library.

The day’s events are being held in association with Hyde Fund-raisers.

The non-profit making group is made up of volunteers who raise money for local and national charities by performing as a wide range of TV characters.

The group has appeared on TV shows such as “Blue Peter” and “Children in Need” and at official “Doctor Who” exhibitions and events across the country.

The event takes place on Saturday (11am-3pm). Tickets are free and you can pick one up from your local Oldham library.
