Shoppers to think local
Date published: 27 March 2009
TWO events in Shaw next Saturday will attract and reward shoppers.
Anyone carrying their “think local . . . shop Shaw” bags between 10am and 4pm will be eligible to win a voucher to exchange for goods or services in designated local shops.
Shaw and Crompton Parish Council has organised the event, with the support of many of the shops and businesses, to back the “think local . . . shop Shaw” scheme which started last November.
The campaign aims to persuade shoppers to stick to Shaw and support local business. The cotton shopping bags were given away free by participating shops when customers spent £10 or more.
Bonnets
And taking place on the same day is an Easter treat with the parish council’s charity market at St Paul’s Methodist Church, Rochdale Road, between 11am and 3pm.
Prizes will be rewarded for the best Easter bonnets.
