Rookie bobbies hit the streets

STUDENT police officers got a taste of life on the streets when they joined Failsworth and Hollinwood Neighbourhood Policing Team for the evening.
Twenty officers, accompanied by seven tutors, helped patrol the Hollins Road area.
They visited retail premises and spoke to members of the community, offering crime prevention advice and finding out what crime and anti-social behaviour concerns they had.
Neighbourhood inspector Dave Stopford said: “This was a great opportunity for the student officers to experience real policing and develop their skills and knowledge.
“It also increases our visibility on the street, reassuring the community.”
Over the coming months Kaskenmoor School will play host to the student officers, from the Sedgley Park police training centre in Prestwich, providing classroom facilities and giving officers an opportunity to interact with young people.
