BUDDING artists of the future have brightened up a busy Chadderton road with a stunning mosaic.

Teenagers from South Chadderton School have produced the piece to represent the many faces of Chadderton, as well as encapsulate community spirit and cultural heritage.

The area surrounding the mosaic, which is at the corner of Broadway and Middleton Road, has been given a spring clean, with trees and flowers planted by youngsters from St Herbert’s Primary School and co-opted members of the Chadderton Area Committee.

Councillor Phil Rogers, Community Champion for Chadderton said: “This is a great example of the committee working in partnership with schools and the wider community to make Chadderton a better place.

“The committee is always looking at ways in which it can improve the area and I would urge local people to get in touch with their ideas and suggestions.”

Christine Symington, from South Chadderton School, added: “This has been a very interesting project that has enabled pupils to gain a better understanding of the history of Chadderton and also to leave a lasting reminder of this work and their time at South Chadderton for years to come.”
